Altai Mountains
The Altai Mountains offer stunning natural beauty in both summer and winter. Photos from here could easily be mistaken for those of the Alps or the Pyrenees: snow-capped peaks, blooming valleys, breathtaking waterfalls, and turbulent rivers. Add to this the region's rich history and culture, a cuisine made with local produce (game, berries, the freshest fish, cheese, and honey from local apiaries), and endless opportunities for outdoor activities… It's no wonder tourists return again and again, year-round.

Mount Belukha
One of the highest mountains in Russia and the highest point of Altai (4,509 m). A must-see for anyone who loves mountains. The Katun, Altai's main river, originates on the snow-capped slopes of Belukha.
Lake Teletskoye
"Baikal's little brother," a sprawling lake with picturesque bays and rocky shores. It's easiest to reach the lake from the north. The journey to the southern lake, Lake Teletskoye, is more challenging, but the views along the way are worth it!
Chulyshman River Valley
The view of the valley from the Katu-Yaryk Pass is perhaps one of the most majestic sights in Altai. The valley itself is sparsely populated and free of crowds of tourists, but it boasts dozens of waterfalls and true places of power.
Geyser Lake
A mesmerizing sight: a small lake with blue clay and springs that draw fantastic patterns on the water.
Altai "Mars"
You don't need a rocket to travel to another planet – we'll take you to the Altai Mars, where the cosmic landscape of every shade of red contrasts with the snow-white peaks of the South Chuya Range on the horizon.
Uchar Waterfall
The largest waterfall in Siberia (approximately 160 meters). The name translates as "inaccessible" or "flying" – and both descriptions perfectly suit it.

Arrival in Altai
Transfer from Gorno-Altaysk or Barnaul airports: comfortable Mercedes minibuses or private transfers in Land Cruiser 200s or executive sedans. The journey is approximately 100 km (1-2 hours).
Possible options:

Manzherok Ski Resort
Manzherok is rightfully considered the best and most promising mountain resort in Altai. Situated near Mount Malaya Sinyukha and the only warm lake that never freezes, even in winter, the season here begins in early November and lasts until April. Winters are snowy, with light and dry snow. In the 2019-2020 season, the resort received the award for best family ski resort in Russia from Rostourism.
Here are prepared trails of different difficulty levels:
- 300 meter long training track;
- 23 routes with a total length of over 21 km;
- Tubing track 300 meters.
- There are a 4-seater chairlift (lower) and a T-bar lift (upper), a baby lift and a special toboggan lift in operation.

Winter Katun
The Katun River in winter is a breathtaking sight! The mountain river doesn't freeze completely; in many sections, it remains open, vibrant, and turbulent. Boiling rapids amidst snow- and ice-covered, hibernating nature… A dazzling turquoise against the white snowdrifts… It's definitely worth seeing!
You can stroll along the ice along the shore, taking in the impenetrable cliffs and quiet dams. And if you put your ear to the ice, you'll hear the gentle murmur of the water, which, even under its winter blanket, continues its uninterrupted flow.
